Food for Thought
Check out the newest section of our site featuring some articles that might answer some questions on web-related business and topics.
How to I prepare for a new website?
Most importantly you will need to find a Website Host and purchase a Domain Name for your website. We will gladly host your new website and provide you with more information or we can help you find another appropriate company. Next, you'll need to start thinking about your website content, the number of pages you'll want, images, media, downloads and ideas for a fresh design or incorporating your current identity materials. This will make both of our jobs a lot easier. For more information please visit our Articles.
Will I be able to update my own website?
We can integrate an appropriate CMS for you to manage your site's content. We offer our very own CMS system as a simple solution or we can recommend others. We suggest you do a small amount of research and learn about website coding and HTML.
Will you update my new website for me?
During the 6 months after your site is published we will carry out non–structural changes e.g. small amounts of text or photos for free. Outside that period or should you require any structural changes to the site e.g. layouts, colours, logos etc. or regular updates like a news page then we charge a maintenance rate of $50/hour (minimum 1/2 hour).
How long does it take you?
That often depends on how quickly the client can get all the relevant information, text and graphics to us and how long they take to approve the work as we go along. The average small-business website with approximately 8 pages can be completed in 4 weeks.
What types of payment do you accept? When do I have to pay?
We accept Paypal payments, cash, check, and money orders. A 30% down-payment of the quoted price is required before work commences. The remainder is paid after the website has been finalized and published.
Do you use Flash?
We do flash animation upon request, and usually very sparingly. Flash is a very powerful and frequently misused piece of software that is many cases not necessary. Our sites are developed so that they are simple to update and can be viewed by as many people as possible - Flash has had accessibility problems. Flash animated navigations are usually a NO. If for some reason a user browsing your site can not load or view Flash then a disabled navigation system pretty much renders your website useless.
What is Firefox?
Firefox is free Internet Browser which allows you to browse the web faster and more safely than with browsers such as Internet Explorer. Currently almost 20% people surfing the net have made the switch to Firefox as of July 2008, and the number is growing daily. Firefox 3 has many features to enrich the browsing experience such as tabbed browsing and pop–up blocking. It's very light and highly customisable and will import your favourites from other browsers if you decide to move.
What is Accessibility?
The goal is to allow as many people as possible to view your website, whether they use a normal browser, a text browser or an aural browser. Designing an accessible website is not just about ensuring access for the disabled, it is also about aiding access for Search Engines such as Google, who read the page in much the same way a text browser does.
How can I get good placement in Search Engines results?
Search engines use different techniques for browsing and indexing your web site. When we build your site we will ensure that it's "search engine friendly" to help ensure that your site is listed as high as possible with "organic" searches, however, we can't make any promises as to where your site will appear in the results page. The only way of ensuring top position in a search engine such as Google is to pay for. We can help you with these Advertising campaigns as well.
